The most affected part of the body by contact dermatitis <strong>are the hands<\/strong>. This situation <strong>is not contagious<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>It is divided into:<\/p>\n<p>- Primary toxic contact dermatitis: caused by the direct damaging effect of specific substances on the outer layer of the skin and no allergic mechanism is involved.<br \/>\n- Allergic contact dermatitis: caused by various substances in the environment, which come into contact with the skin and cause sensitisation of the individual (requiring prior sensitisation of a predisposed individual to an allergen of varying antigenic potency).<\/p>\n<h3>REASONS<\/h3>\n<p>Factors that cause primary toxic dermatitis are:<br \/>\n- Water, sweat, humid environment<br \/>\n- Skin cleansers, cosmetics<br \/>\n- Antiseptics<br \/>\n- Alkaline substances<br \/>\n- Strong acids<br \/>\n- Detergents and other household cleaners<br \/>\n- Oils<br \/>\n- Organic solvents<br \/>\n- Plants<br \/>\n- Citrus fruits and their juices<br \/>\n- Mechanical factors<br \/>\n- Substances that one comes into contact with when gardening<br \/>\n- Biological substances<br \/>\nFactors that cause allergic contact dermatitis are:<br \/>\n- Metals (nickel, chromium, cobalt)<br \/>\n- Tyres<br \/>\n- Plastics, adhesives<br \/>\n- Preservatives, antimicrobials<br \/>\n- Medicines (neomycin, local anaesthetics)<br \/>\n- Cosmetics (perfumes, preservatives, excipients)<br \/>\n- Dyes (fabrics, leather, hair)<br \/>\n- Plants, timber<\/p>\n<h3>WHAT WE DO<\/h3>\n<p>- Avoiding contact with irritants (soaps, detergents, solvents, paints, shoe polishes, powders, powders, vegetables, fruit juices, etc.), to avoid aggravation of the disease<br \/>\n- Use of protective gloves (and protective clothing in general)<\/p>\n<h3>THERAPY<\/h3>\n<p>The<strong> local corticosteroids<\/strong> is the cornerstone <strong>in the therapeutic treatment of irritant and allergic dermatitis<\/strong>, and antihistamines may also be administered.
