Skin Ageing
The renewal of skin cells is one of the most important biological processes. This renewal takes place in the epidermis due to the proliferation and differentiation of keratinocytes and in the dermis in the main skin, the synthesis of collagen and elastin proteins that make the skin firmer and more elastic.
Over time, the skin does not retain moisture, resulting in fine lines and wrinkles, while collagen and elastin degenerate in the main skin. Along with these, hyaluronic acid, which is essential for skin hydration, is reduced, as well as natural fat.
The characteristic features of skin ageing are wrinkles, discolouration (mainly the development of darker or lighter spots on the skin), yellowish tinge over time, loss of moisture and elasticity of the skin, loss of volume, spider veins, sagging etc.
REASONS
Skin ageing is divided into endogenous and exogenous.
Endogenous ageing is caused over time and is related to skin type and heredity.
Exogenous ageing depends on the environmental factors to which each person is subjected during his or her lifetime. The most serious exogenous factor of premature skin ageing is sun exposure. Other factors include repetitive facial expressions or grimaces, smoking, gravity and the positions each person takes when sleeping.
WHAT WE DO
Endogenous ageing is a natural process of the human body, unlike exogenous ageing for which preventive measures can be applied, such as:
- Protection from the sun and frequent application of sunscreen.
- Avoiding tanning with lamps
- Hydration of the body and skin
- Proper sleep
- Avoidance of smoking
- A diet rich in fruits, vegetables and without unnecessary salt
- Reduction of stress and anxiety
THERAPY
Anti-ageing treatments are classified into preventive and therapeutic.
The first category includes the following treatments:
- Cleaning the skin
- Peeling (herbal chemicals or exfoliation with microcrystals)
- Hydration treatments
- Nourishment regeneration treatments
- Sun protection
- Activation of collagen using laser, I P L or RF machines.
Treatments that act invasively to treat or correct the appearance of wrinkles are botulinum toxin injections, mesotherapy (hyaluronic acid, vitamins - plasma enriched with platelets, etc.), injectable implants (hyaluronic acid, hydroxyapatite, autologous fat, etc.) and more invasive lasers (co2, erbium yag, fractional).
