STRETCH MARK

The Striations (stretch marks) are linear atrophic lesions, skin scars, with wrinkling, flattening, atrophy of the skin. They are formed under the epidermis as a result of the sudden tension exerted on the leather. Depending on the physical type of the skin, may be white-light pink, red or purple in colour.

Stretch marks are more common in women from puberty onwards, mainly in the buttocks, thighs, breasts and abdomen, and the majority of them are symmetrical. However, men may also develop stretch marks, especially after sudden weight fluctuations.

Reasons

Factors for the appearance of stretch marks are heredity, poor skin elasticity, sudden height gain, weight fluctuation, pregnancy, hormone replacement therapy or taking steroid drugs.

Η skin thins in thickness and retains fewer collagen elements, resulting in very low levels of elastin in the skin, leading to lesions such as Striations (stretch marks).

What to look out for

The Striations first appear pink and gradually over time they become whiter or even silvery. The best time to treat them most effectively is at their appearance. The young streaks - pink or reddish - more easily treated than white ones "mature" streaks, in which there is a loss of natural skin tone and needs more active treatment. Stretch marks are not dangerous to our health, but they are unpleasant psychologically.

Treatment

Η treatment of streaks usually lies in a combination of treatment regimen, which depends on the species, colour, "age" and the position of the ribs in the body.

Stimulation of the blood supply to the area of the striations and then a mild injury to the chorion to mobilise the fibroblasts, the cells that produce the collagen and the elastin and create a new network of connective tissue. This stimulation can be done with local conductors in combination with energy source devices such as IPLs, radiofrequencies or certain types of lasers.
